The Terrace is a beautiful spot within the grounds of Brantwood, on the East side of Coniston Water. This Coniston cafe is open all year round, with the option to sit inside or out. The restaurant has the most amazing views over Coniston Water and Coniston Old Man; you won’t want to leave.
The building dates back to 1872, built as the coach house and stable for John Ruskin’s coachman. When Brantwood opened to the public in 1934, the coach house became a tearoom for visitors. Serving Food, Drinks and snacks daily, the cafe is open to all to all not just visitors to Brantwood.
The Terrace serves delicious food, all made on-site, including gourmet toasties, pork belly and bean poke bowls. They also serve delicious cakes, scones and pastries. The menu changes regularly in line with the seasons and local produce availability.
Parking in the Brantwood car park is free and available for cafe patrons, but we recommend exploring the house and gardens, too, if you have time.
