Sawrey or The Sawreys is the collective name given to the two hamlets located roughly two miles southeast of Hawkshead. You will find the Sawreys just passed Esthwaite Water which is a private lake stocked with trout. If you are coming from Windermere, you can access them via the Windermere Ferry, a car ferry sailing between Bowness and Far Sawrey. For more information about the car ferry, click here.
Near Sawrey
Near Sawrey, the closest to Hawkshead, was famously once the home of the childrenβs writer Beatrix Potter, and her first farm, Hill Top, is now one of the most popular attractions in this part of the Lake District.
